What size necklace should I order?

What size necklace should I order for my child ?

What size necklace is right for your child? Why is length so important for a child under the age of 3?

Baltic Amber jewellery works by being worn against the skin & is NOT intended for chewing on. All though it is called a “teething necklace” they can’t be chewed on. It is important to find the correct size necklace for your child. It needs small enough that they cannot roll their necklace over their chin and into their mouth. By doing this the necklace the correct size for your child.  Using the correct size will limit the risk of strangulation & choking on the necklace.

As Baltic Amber is hard & may cause damage to your child’s teeth & gums if they do chew the necklace.
It is also best that the correct size is used so they can’t get their arms/hand caught in the necklace. Or have it caught on toys/items while they are playing.

Using a soft measuring tape, measure your child’s neck to find out what length will be best for your child. If you do not have a soft measuring tape, you can use a string, shoelace or piece of dental floss. Anything can be used as long as it is soft so that the correct size can be worked out. Lay the tape measure around the child’s neck until both ends meet at the child’s collar bone. Check to see if they can get it over their chin. If they can then you will need to re-size until they can’t. A perfect-fitting necklace is two fingers of space between the necklace, their neck & it sits around their collarbone.

Once you have the measurements use a ruler or a hard tape measure to the size.
